This weekend was the last weekend of our season, as we have just closed the doors now until we re-open Easter weekend next year.
I would like to thank each and everyone of you for coming to see the museum, new customers and exiting ones that have been to visit us year after year.
You have all made our year, with your stories from distant relatives being discovered that were from Romany decent, and wanting to find out more about your heritage and the way of life, to those who have tales of Romany people pulling into their villages with their wagons, and wishing they had talked to them to find more about their way of life.
Again a big thank you to all of you who gave come to visit us and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
I'm sure you are all aware of the torrential rain we have been experiencing this couple of weeks, Lincolnshire has been very badly hit, we have been fortunate we have not suffered as much as some of the villages on the east coast between Boston and Skegness.
We have been open as usual this weekend, some people who have braved the downpours and come to visit us, I thank you for your dedication and tenacitiy especial to those who arrived by motor bike who have been touring Europe.
Here's to sunnier times as this should be flaming June.
We look forward to seeing you all this summer.
I just want to let you all know that there is a rogue website out there. The website address is www.boswell-romany-musuem.com, it has insurance deatils for museums on it and has nothing to do with us. I have tried to find out how to get in contact with the person who holds the domain name but with no avail. If there is anyone out there that can help in this pursuit, I would be most grateful as I am not very IT literate, I know what I need to know and do not know where and how to start.
Today we welcomed the Netherton Friendship Club to our Museum a group of 38 lovely people who were a pleasure to show our museum to, everyone was engaging and asked lots of questions, which was great for my mam and I to be able to answer their queries.
The photograph on the left caught the eye of a gentleman from the group today who recognised the people in the photogragh and knows the families within the editorial, he had gone to school with some of them, it was very interesting to hear about his connection with the family. A real blast from the past for him.
The prams we have on display in the museum caused quite a stir with some of tbe ladies from todays group, as some remember having a dolls pram like the ones we have, then others remember having the larger pram for their own children. It was very interesting hearing all their lovely memories.
"It really is like walking down memory lane"; one lady said to me as she reminised about when Romanies she saw pulled on a large grass verge when she walked to school then home again, and how she looked for them when she came home one day and they had moved on.
Thank you all for taking the time to come and spend time with us today and having a chat over a cup of tea and a biscuit.
